Historic Lexington Foundation
(HLF) is a non-profit organization promoting the preservation of the rich architectural and related historic resources of Rockbridge County, Virginia. HLF efforts include educational lectures, tours, conservation, dialogues within the Lexington neighborhoods, Founders' Awards for outstanding preservation, publication of books, grants to properties of historic significance, oversight of easements, and protection of our cultural past.
Mountain Valley Preservation Alliance
is a non-profit organization that supports – through education, study, and advocacy — the preservation of historic structures, landscapes, communities, and archaeological sites as well as related photographs, manuscript, ephemera and material culture items or collections in the Western Valley region of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Rockbridge Historical Society
is a non-profit organization that provides a repository for much of the history of Rockbridge County and Lexington. Historical resources, artifacts, and many publications and papers are available for use by historians and others who are researching the history or people of this area.
Paxton House
is one of the most historic homes in the area, is located in Buena Vista. The home was built between 1828 and 1831 by Elisha Paxton and is currently being restored by volunteers.
Virginia Canals and Navigations Society
a non-profit organization, was formed in 1977 to preserve and enhance Virginia’s rich inland waterways heritage in all its fascinating aspects.
Chesapeake & Ohio Historical Society
is a non-profit corporation dedicated to interpreting the American Railway experience using C&O Railway's history through drawings, documents, and artifacts which the Society collects, preserves, and makes available to as broad an audience as possible.
Norfolk and Western Historical Society
a non-profit organization, acquires, preserves, archives, and makes available to the public, historians, museums, and other railroad historical groups, the historical documents, including drawings, photographs, and other graphics, of the two railroads.
Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Historical Society
is dedicated to the preservation of and education about the history of America’s first Common Carrier Railroad, the Baltimore & Ohio. The Society has members all over the world across a variety of railroad interests from modeling to research to preservation.
